serves New York’s Capital District in a variety
of legal and public service capacities.
The firm, which began in Troy in the early part of the last century,
believes in both excellence in the practice of law and leadership

Attorneys in the 17-member firm, which has offices in Albany and
Rensselaer Counties, are statewide and national leaders in a number
of areas of law, including trusts and estates, corporate, real estate,
municipal, environmental and historic preservation, banking, litigation,
labor, elder law and the law of non-profit and tax exempt organizations.
Lawyers in the firm sit on a wide variety of state, local and national
boards of charitable and legal organizations and are active in the
Albany and Rensselaer County Bar Associations as well as the New York
State, American Bar Associations and Capital District Women’s Bar Association.
Through the affiliations of five of its attorneys, the firm may practice in
Massachusetts, the District of Columbia, Missouri, Kansas and New Jersey,
as well as in New York State.
For the past two years, MSWD&J has been named to the Bar Register
of Preeminent Lawyers by Martindale Hubbell, the national reference
service for attorneys. The Register includes only those firms that
have the highest levels of ratings and ethical standards. The firm
is also represented in Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s
